Wellness Wednesdays with Grace Sekwao

Every month we will dedicate one or two posts on wellness stories from people on our every day life which can be through physical, mental or emotional wellness to inspire one or two people on living and being better.

To kick off Wellness Wednesdays, we asked Grace Sekwao, a Tanzanian who currently works as a Front-End Developer. We have seen her make a great impact into her health and fitness journey so we had to share her story. Here is something short she had to say about her journey.

I started cause I am hypertensive. The doctor said I needed to lose atleast 10kg or else I’d get heart problems. Well, I knew if I continued like this I would die early on my own doing and also I wanted to feel strong and good. I’ve always loved being active but I felt like the environment in Dar es salaam wasn’t the best to do that for me, so I told myself when I move to another country I will start, so thats what I did in 2016.

I started by myself slowly, alot of cardio and a very strict diet. I knew abit about diet on what to eat because my mom is a health freak, but I was very lost when it came to working out. So I found this girl on IG @linnlowes who posts these awesome workout videos that I saved and categorized each one. I did everything she said, I started feeling the changes just three weeks after I committed myself into the workouts.

The more weight I lost, the more I worked harder. Till I reached my goal weight then it just became a lifestyle. Click To Tweet
